Benefits

What many plans include

$0 premium options

Many Chicagoland counties have multiple plans with no monthly premium beyond Part B.

Dental, vision & hearing

Cleanings, eyewear allowances and hearing aids that Original Medicare doesn't cover.

Out-of-pocket maximum

A yearly cap on what you spend for covered medical services.

Networks

HMO vs. PPO

HMO

Lower costs, in-network care, a primary care doctor who coordinates referrals. Ideal if your doctors are all in one health system.

PPO

More flexibility to see out-of-network providers and specialists without referrals, typically at a higher cost.

Specialized coverage

Medicare Special Needs Plans

Special Needs Plans are Medicare Advantage plans for people who meet specific eligibility criteria, such as having certain chronic conditions, qualifying for both Medicare and Medicaid, or needing institutional care. Plan availability and eligibility vary. Our experienced agents can help you review whether a plan fits your situation.

FAQ

Medicare Advantage questions

Are $0 premium Medicare Advantage plans really free?+

A $0 premium plan has no monthly plan premium, but you still pay your Part B premium and any copays, coinsurance or deductibles when you use care. Every plan also has an annual out-of-pocket maximum.

What is the difference between an HMO and a PPO?+

An HMO usually requires you to use in-network providers and get referrals to specialists. A PPO lets you see out-of-network providers at a higher cost and typically doesn't require referrals.

Do Medicare Advantage plans include dental and vision?+

Many Illinois Medicare Advantage plans include routine dental, vision and hearing benefits, but coverage levels vary. We compare extras side by side.
